This week the children took part in a recycling workshop and they got the chance to make their own wallets using juice cartons, it was lots of fun!
The Owls and Robins have been exploring the new Loft in their classroom. Upstairs is a quiet reading area and downstairs will be a role play area.
We learned about how materials can be recycled and saw some beautiful things made from recycled newspapers, crisp packets and cans. We made our own notebooks from recycled maps, card and paper.
The Hedgehogs and Woodpeckers have been learning about recycling. They made a pot out of paper and planted a broad bean seed.
Woodpeckers have started forest school and have enjoyed learning outdoors.
The Squirrels have been sorting rubbish into paper, glass, metal and plastic. They discussed the qualities of the materials as a group and worked together to decide the waterproof materials and the non-waterproof materials.
In the Year 2 classroom we have a new loft with an upstairs quiet reading area and a role-play area downstairs which is currently set up as a recycling and up-cycling centre as part of our “what a load of rubbish” topic. The children have spent time this week exploring the new loft and reading story books with their friends.
This week the Squirrels worked as 2 teams to work against each other to turn over the most colored cones as they could in the time. After they played a game of kick rounders and scored runs for their team!
During our Design and Technology lessons we were busy using a variety of materials to make homes for the 3 little pigs. Forest Schools was rather muddy this week but we had fun making a picture!
