Welcome to Woodpeckers Class
Woodpecker Class Blog
We had a lovely day on Thursday coming in to school in our pyjamas and sharing our favourite stories with each other. As a treat we had a cup of hot chocolate and a biscuit to warm us up after learning about world book day in assembly.
Mrs King read the story of Goldilocks and the 3 bears to us on the carpet. We really enjoyed the story.During choosing time lots of tried really hard to write about the story,Miss Kent was so impressed!
We have started looking at our new topic,Forest and Woods by reading some traditional tales. We are enjoying our new role play area of the 3 bears’ cottage, dressing up like them.We have some character puppets that we have been playing with to act out different stories and do a show in the puppet theatre.
This week we have been looking at real life superheroes, people who help us.We thought of so many people who help us;fire fighters, doctors, nurses, police officers, lifeguards and teachers. We had lots of fun dressing up and role playing as these people.
We had a special visitor this week! The fire fighters came to visit us and brought the fire engine. We were so excited and had so much fun;sitting in the fire engine , spraying the hose and listening to them telling us fun facts. We even started to dress up like people who help us during choosing time!
Woodpeckers had a fun afternoon playing with all the equipment outside. We had the basketball hoop and lots of us tried to get the ball in the hoop.We played catch with the balls and some of us tried to skip with the ropes too!We had so much fun!
Hedgehogs and Woodpeckers enjoyed their forest school this week.We explored and played with different materials like spaghetti, jelly, shaving foam and rice.We spoke about what they felt and smelt like.We had so much fun!
This week we have been learning about money. We went to the snack shop where we had to choose our snack and pay the shopkeeper using our pennies.
We have loved the start of our new topic,Superheroes. We have enjoyed reading Supertato and making our own super veggies but we have to watch out for the evil pea capturing our super vegetables. We have been doing challenges to save the vegetables like writing our numbers, using tweezers ,making 3D shapes and making superhero capes.
Hedgehogs and Woodpeckers had a visit from a real life elf! We thought she looked a bit like Mrs King but we’re not sure…
