National Tests
Some of the last assessments
we carry out on your children are the National Assessment Tasks and Tests, often referred to as SATs. These usually take place
during May. Although we treat these assessment activities as seriously as any other assessments, we do not place undue emphasis
on them and they are carried out in as relaxed an atmosphere as possible.
Assessment
We assess children as soon as they start
school. This is a painless process and it provides us with valuable information about what your children already know. You
will have an opportunity to discuss the outcomes of this assessment with your child’s teacher towards the end of their
first term in school.
In order for us to teach your children
effectively and report to you on their progress, we carry out assessments throughout your child’s infant career. This
often takes the form of observing them at work, hearing them read or talking to them about what they are doing. Sometimes
we plan particular tasks to see how well they are progressing in certain areas. Records are kept to ensure they cover all
areas of the curriculum and to help us monitor your child’s progress. You are entitled to see your child’s individual
records if you so wish.
