Uniform

We do not enforce the wearing of a school uniform but sweatshirts, polo shirts and fleeces bearing the school logo are available from the school office. They are of good quality and reasonably priced. Sweatshirts come in a choice of bright red, blue or green. Polo shirts are available in white with a red logo. Whatever your child wears to school we do ask that it is “working” clothing, which you find easy to wash and which they can get in and out of easily for P.E.

We provide aprons for messy work, but any powder paint marks can usually be removed with toilet soap. Detergent tends to set the paint.

For safety reasons we insist that children are suitably dressed for P.E. This can be in vest and pants, but many children are happier in shorts and a tee-shirt. Most P.E. is carried out barefoot but children need soft soled shoes such as daps (not trainers) for outdoor work. Reception children require their kit from the beginning of the year but often don’t require daps until the Spring Term, so do have a word with your child’s teacher before purchasing them.

All clothing, including daps, should be clearly named please. Much valuable teaching time can be lost trying to unite shirts and jumpers etc. with their rightful owners. P.E. kit is needed each week and it may be left in school in a suitable bag. School dap bags are available for purchase but traditional home made dap bags or plastic carrier bags are equally suitable.

Back packs, satchels and holdalls should not be brought to school. Our cloakrooms are not designed to accommodate them and coats at the same time! We sell book bags, which will fit easily in the children’s drawers for transporting books to and from school.

Jewellery

Necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings should not be worn to school. If your child has pierced ears only small studs (not hoops) should be worn. We will not take any responsibility for items brought to school and mislaid. Watches too should not be worn unless parents are prepared to accept the risk of damage or loss, as they have to be removed for P.E. and messy work.
