Learning through play

In Hedgehogs class we play and learn at the same time. Here are some photos of us doing just that!

We are learning our sounds in Read Write Inc. Look how good we are getting at reading and writing.

We have been trying really hard to write CVC words on our own, sounding out each word and finding the letter to write.

This week we have been talking about longer and shorter. We have been measuring objects with cubes to see how long they are and cutting out to put items in size order.

Wristbands – Year 2

As part of our Make Do and Mend topic we all made a wristband. These were made using circles cut from plastic bottles and scraps of material, ribbon or paper which we wound around the circles. Then we decorate our band using sequins or a superhero motif. We can now make more in our recycling centre.

Robins – Maths

We love Maths! Here we are working together and using some useful Maths equipment to help us learn and remember things.

We have been experimenting with cornflour and water. It was surprising to see what happened! We enjoyed getting messy as well as learning about solids and liquids.

Children in Need 2017

We enjoyed dressing up and collecting money for Pudsey on Friday.

We asked ourselves questions about bubbles and then did some experiments to find the answers. Are bubbles round? Can you blow bigger bubbles with a big hoop?

Make do and mend – Pom-Poms

As part of this terms topic Make Do and Mend, the Year 2’s have been making Pom-Poms out of scraps of wool and old cardboard boxes. We are all going to use our finished Pom-Poms to make a monster and any extra ones will be made into a rug for our classroom.
