This academic year (September 2015- July 2016) marks 40 years since Colebrook Infants was built. We have used this opportunity as a local history project in class, finding out about the history of our school and about how it has changed over time. The children had their sports day this week, they were all superb! The children completed a range of activities including egg and spoon race, obstacle race, dribbling the football and bean bag balancing. Thank you for the parents and carers for supporting us and joining in for our grown up races!!
On Thursday the Year 1’s and 2’s had their school trip to Bristol Aquarium. They saw lots of amazing fish and learned so many facts about the creatures they found. They had the chance to feed the turtles and watch thousands of fish swim around.
It was nice to see the parents and grandparents joining the Owls and Robins in their Pirate Wake and Shake dance. Great performance. Well done to all year 1’s.
On Wednesday Mrs Cleary took some of our budding mathematicians from Year 2 to Kingsdown School for a Maths activity morning. Mrs Cleary was very proud of the children’s good sportsmanship.
On Wednesday this week as part of our school topic we all dressed up as pirates for the day! It was lots of fun, we even learned a great pirate wake and shake dance.
This week the Squirrels had their first session of Forest school. The children searched for as many different minibeasts and creatures in the school grounds that they could find. They also helped turn over the soil to plant vegetables in. It was great fun!
We said goodbye to Miss Kilford early this week who has been helping us in our school for almost three years now. We had a special assembly when we held up words we thought best described Miss Kilford. We then gave Miss Kilford some very special presents and we wished her well with her new job.
On Wednesday we celebrated the 90th birthday of our Queen. The children and staff dressed up as Queens, Kings, Princes and Princesses, we also had a few Knights. After lunch we all went on a parade around the Junior School to show off our outfits to the junior children, bowing and curtsying along the way. To celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday, the whole school (including staff!) had the chance to dress up as a King, Queen, Prince or Princess for the day, it was lots of fun! In the morning the Squirrels and Rabbits made biscuits to celebrate the occasion and decorated them with Great British Sprinkles. They were also busy all morning making union jack bunting and flags
