As part of our castles topic we have been designing and making clay pots. These are the type of pots that people in castles in Medieval times would have made and used.
We had a wonderful time at Stanton Park today. In the morning we learned about the history of the park from Roman times and searched the wild meadow for plants and mini beasts. In the afternoon we build dens in the woodland.
In year 2 we have been learning how to write blogs and send messages using our DB Primary accounts on I Pads and computers.
In our Jigsaw lessons we have been learning about our different body parts and labelling some pictures.
The Year 1’s enjoyed a wonderful sunny day in Stanton woods. During the morning we learned about the special properties of a variety of plants.Then we collected plant and flower samples from a lovely meadow. We ate lunch in a barn – alongside some nesting swifts – then headed to the den making area. The children made some super dens using a range of
The Hedgehogs made the most of the glorious weather and went outside under the shade of a tree to design and paint rocks.The children decided to paint their rocks as different bugs. They began with a base colour and then used pens and stickers to add the final details – They looked amazing!
In year 2 we have enjoyed making our own castles out of junk. We have made turrets and battlements with crenelations and drawbridges to prevent our enemies from entering.
We have been learning about the features of castles and about where castles were built and why .We used cardboard boxes and wooden blocks to create our own Colebrook Castles. The children used some fantastic vocabulary to talk about the castle features. Can you see the towers,crenallations,ruins,moats,drawbridges,portcullises and even arrow slits? We had lots of fun!
We had a beautiful day for our forest school. We went to the pond area and found that the water lilies are now in flower. Some of the tadpoles have turned into froglets,which means they have 4 legs but have not lost their tails. As our topic this term is Castles some of us had fun building castles for mini beasts and others helped
We made our very own woodpeckers in forest school this week.We used clay and collected objects from the playground and field to make their beaks,wings and legs.
