This week some children from year 2 went to Eldene School along with other Swindon schools for an art morning.
They used picture books for inspiration then covered cable reels with decoupage pieces to make tables or stools . The results were stunning. Our art club is using the same technique to turn cardboard boxes into treasure chests for the classrooms.
Today we enjoyed a performance from the Quantum Theatre Company called “Journey to the Bottom of the Garden”. The actors pretended to shrink to the size of mini beasts so that they could search for a rare plant.
We learned about some of the plants and animals that can be found in a garden, how we can sort them into different groups and what they need to live.
As part of this terms Pirate topic the children enjoyed a Pirate themed lunch supplied by our caterers, Aspens.
This week we have had some duck eggs in school.
They arrived in an incubator and we are delighted that they have all now hatched.
They love hiding under their heater to keep warm.
The whole school enjoyed Red Nose day.
We raised money by dressing up in something red and there was a cake sale after school.
The whole school enjoyed World Book Day today.
We all came to school in our pyjamas and shared our favourite books with each other.
In the afternoon we all had hot chocolate and a biscuit and listened to Mrs. Hodkinson’s favourite stories.
This week some of our year 1 and 2 children took part in the Swindon Dance Festival at the Wyvern Theatre.
The theme was Around the World.
As our topic this term is Once Upon a Time we based our dance on the song Welcome Home from James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl.
Here are some photographs from back stage.
Today we had a visit from The Flying Pizza Theatre Company.
We all enjoyed watching their play of Robin Hood and we all pretended to be archers at the end.
We all dressed up in our Christmas jumpers today and we also found some elves in the school.
A big hello from the new members of our school council.
We are looking forward to helping Mrs Hodkinson make decisions about our school.
