Current Events in the Media

News coverage of events around the world can be alarming for children. As with so many 'big' topics, we believe that communication is key. Children only ask questions for which they want to know the answers - they don't need to know vast amounts of detail.

When discussing 'big' topics with your child, we suggest you try the following:

· Stay honest

· Keep it simple and age appropriate

· Normalise their feelings (and your own)

· Be led by their questions and give them opportunities to ask them

· Reassure your child of their safety with you
