What have we been learning Term 2?

Our Christmas Play - Three of a Kind.

Our final Design Technology project was a 'Rolling Toy.' We carried out some research first and asked younger children in school what kind of animals they like and what they wanted their rolling toy to look like. Then we had to create an animal template, decorate it, cut it out and put in the rolling cotton wheel and straw axle. We think they look great!

Squirrels - In DT we have used our cutting and joining skills to make Wonder Turners. They create an illusion and trick your eyes into thinking something is there when it isn't. We had a great time making them and even more fun trying them out on each other.

Squirrels - In Maths this week we have been looking at 2D and 3D shapes and their properties. We sorted them using a Venn Diagram.

Squirrels - In DT this week we have been applying our cutting and joining skills. We made some very cute paper snails.

Science - We are learning about materials. We talked about different kinds of materials and their properties

History - We have been looking at toys from the past. We talked about how they are different to modern toys, including the materials they are made of and how they work.

Art - Linked to our History topic about Guy Fawkes, we have been creating some fantastic fireworks pictures using paint and glitter.

Forest School - We have been using our Forest School sessions to learn about the seasons.

Squirrels - Forest School & Science. This week we planted some vegetables in our raised bed and used natural materials to build elf and fairy houses.
