What have we been learning in Term 2?

Robins Class Christmas PE

We had a fun Christmas PE lesson in Robins Class. The children worked in teams of four to collect their Christmas tree decorations (hoops, cones and beanbags) and decorate their chosen Christmas tree (team member). They had lots of fun and came up with creative ways to balance the objects on their Christmas tree.

The results of our germs science experiment

Germs Experiments in Science

In Science, we’ve been learning about animals including humans and why good hygiene is so important. To explore how germs spread, we carried out two exciting experiments. First, Miss Arthurs covered her hands in glitter “germs” and shook hands with different children to see how quickly they spread. For our second experiment, we used three pieces of bread: one untouched control piece, one that was passed around the class with unwashed hands, and another passed around after everyone had washed their hands carefully. We sealed all three pieces and will be observing them over the next few weeks to see how they change and what this teaches us about germs and hygiene!

An exciting discovery in Year 1

This week, Year 1 arrived to find a very surprising visitor in our classroom... a penguin! Beside him was a small suitcase filled with an umbrella and a hat. The children were fascinated and used because to make thoughtful predictions about why the penguin might be here and what might have happened.

Next, we created “Found” posters to help our lost penguin. Then, to our delight, the penguin delivered a special gift: the book Lost and Found!

Today, the children sequenced the main events from the story and will soon be adding their own captions. It has been a wonderful, imaginative week of learning!

Badger Class enjoyed a wonderful afternoon in the autumn sunshine for our first Tree Huggers session of the year. Mike, our Outdoor Learning teacher, was delighted by the children’s enthusiasm and love for nature.

During the session, the children worked together to build dens and bug hotels, create beautiful leaf art, play with clay, and explore our outdoor area. Miss Osborne was especially impressed by the fantastic teamwork and cooperation shown throughout the afternoon.

It was a brilliant start to our outdoor learning adventures this year!
