What have we been learning in Term 2?

Another delivery from the Jolly Postman!

The Jolly Postman returned last week with another delivery! This time, he sent us a letter accompanied by not one, but two parcels. Inside the first parcel, we discovered another book: The Jolly Christmas Postman. The second parcel contained a long, narrow box.

Before opening it, we made predictions about what might be inside, writing our ideas on post-it notes. When we finally opened the box, we found a Christmas tree! Excited, we worked together to write step-by-step instructions for setting up and decorating the tree

Children in Need celebrations!

The Jolly Postman

This morning was full of excitement as we received an email from Mrs. Salter letting us know that some post had arrived for us! The children eagerly made their way to the office to collect it and explored the key features of the package.

Inside, we discovered a letter from The Jolly Postman along with a special book. We enjoyed reading the story together and had a thoughtful discussion about how the postman might have felt as he delivered letters to a variety of characters.

We’re excited to see where our learning journey with The Jolly Postman will take us next!

Pablo Picasso

In KS1, we dedicated three art days to exploring the life and work of Pablo Picasso. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about his life and were able to recall fascinating facts about him with ease. They were especially intrigued by Picasso’s ‘Blue Period,’ a time when he expressed his sadness through artwork, only using shades of blue.

We also practiced some of Picasso’s techniques to enhance our sketching skills, focusing on shading and cross-hatching to bring depth and texture to our drawings. Take a look at our work!
