Changes to the Blue Kite Trust Admissions Policy

Changes to the Blue Kite Academy Trust Admission Policy 2027 to 2028

Oversubscription Criteria:

Children of parents who are staff at the school and children that attend the school’s nursery have been added to the oversubscription criteria.

Faith Based Criteria

While faith schools are legally allowed to use faith as an admissions criterion in the UK, doing so can lead to indirectly discriminatory outcomes, often impacting certain racial or socioeconomic groups. Faith-based admissions can disadvantage particular ethnic groups and cause a "sense of injustice".

Christian Malford CE Primary, Seagry CE Primary, Somerfords’ Walter Powell CE Primary, Sutton Benger CE Primary, St Peter’s CE Academy and St Leonards CE Primary Academy have previously included faith criteria as part of their oversubscription criteria, however it was rarely used.

In the 2027 to 2028 Admission Policy, the Blue Kite Academy Trust, the Diocese of Bristol and the church schools named above,  have agreed to remove this criteria in order ensure inclusivity.

Changes to Published Admission Numbers (PAN)

After careful consideration and reviewing relevant data the following schools are reducing PAN:

Catherine Wayte Primary School 30 (down from 45)

Ferndale Primary and Nursery School 45 (down from 60)

Oaktree Nursery and Primary School 45 (down from 55)

Ruskin Junior School 75 (down from 90)

The following school will be increasing PAN:

South Marston CE Primary School 20 (up from 15)

As a result of these changes, it is necessary to consult on this policy.  The consultation will run from Monday 1 December 2025 to Monday 12 January 2026.

The policy can be found on the school website www.colebrookinfants.co.uk
